LWS Introduces New E-LAM® Horizontal Switch Structures |
LWS Introduces New E-LAM® Horizontal Switch Structures

LWS has developed a new two-pole horizontal switch structure package that includes a steel switch platform that can accommodate horizontal gang-operated switches.
This new design was developed in cooperation with LWS representatives and their associated utilities in the northeast US. The utility’s switch manufacturer preferred not to design or supply the mounting platform, only the switches.
In response to this request LWS engineers were able to design a complete two-pole structure that can be used in tangent, angle, guyed, un-guyed or dead-end applications through 345kV.
This structure design includes E-LAM® Never-Twist® laminated wood poles and an easy-to-assemble tubular frame with dead-end capabilities. Click HERE to download the Horizontal Switch Structure brochure.
If you would like to receive a quote on a structure designed for your specific switch application, click HERE to fill out the online structure information worksheet. For information on all of LWS products, visit www.lwsinc.com today or call 800-949-3526 today!

LWS to Supply Transmission Structures to Wind Farm Projects in South Dakota and Southern Minnesota |
|

Seward, NE – Laminated Wood Systems, Inc. (LWS) has received orders from a single wind developer to supply laminated wood transmission structures for two separate wind farm projects. The first project is located in the Brookings, SD area and will require 231 laminated wood transmission poles that will comprise a total of 210 structures. The second project is located in southern Minnesota and will require 163 laminated wood poles.
Both transmission projects consist of single pole, double circuit construction, 115kV & 34.5kV. The developer chose to use laminated wood structures due to the tight construction schedule requirements of both projects.
On the Brookings, SD project, LWS was able to procure much of the hardware prior to receiving the order, so as to insure timely delivery of the completed structure kits. LWS actually began production mere days after receiving the order and will have all 210 structure kits delivered within 10 weeks.
The pre-drilled laminated wood structure kits will be stake delivered and include all attachment hardware and required foundation systems. Laminated wood transmission structures are manufactured from an abundant, renewable timber resource and are not subject to shortages and surcharges. Wood has the least “cradle-to-grave” impact on the environment when compared to steel or concrete and is also a natural carbon offset/sequester.
